ADMINISTRATORS AND RESELLERS

There are 2 ways to work with Standish Company LLC (hitherto referred to as "Standish Sites"). You can be either a Reseller or an Administrator.

The difference between an Administrator and a Reseller is simple:

  • When working as an Administrator, customers are customers of Standish Sites. This confers responsability for quality of service to Standish Sites.
  • When working as a Reseller, you are the customer of Standish Sites, and your customers belong to you. Therefore, no responsability is confered to Standish Sites.

Anyone can work as a reseller. The only requirement is that the customer terms of service be fulfilled.

To become an administrator, you need to demonstrate your ability to sell websites, usually by working first as a reseller. You can then submit a request to become an administrator.

  • Administrator mode is probably best for those who plan to sell many websites to customers they do not know personally.
  • Reseller mode may be best for managing a few customers with whom there is a high degree of trust, and therefore no need to formalize requests for paid support.

You can also use the following comparisons to decide which business relationship to use.

ADVANTAGES OF RESELLER MODE
  1. Resellers can charge their customers any amount, under whatever terms they want.
  2. There is no stipulation by Standish Sites for service quality.
  3. Resellers keep 100% of paid support charged to their customers, and only pay for hosting.
  4. Since Standish Sites is not visibly associated with the Reseller, any possibility of competition with Standish Sites providers (Administrators) is avoided.
  5. Resellers are 100% in control of their customers' websites. For example, when doing custom page design for a customer, there is no need to wait for customer approval of a quote in order to proceed with work.
  6. A Reseller's customers are not obligated (or allowed) to use the Standish Sites control panel. This is preferred by many customers, who want to avoid using any kind of site administration.
DISADVANTAGES OF RESELLER MODE
  1. The Reseller must charge his customers himself. He is responsible for invoicing, billing, payment reminders, etc.
  2. The Reseller may not use the Standish Sites brand and reputation to promote his services. He may not mention Standish Sites on his website or any communications with customers
  3. The Reseller must implement his own support ticket system.
  4. Customers may not access the Standish Sites control panel, so cannot make any edits or adjustments to their own website. All work must be done by the Reseller.

ADVANTAGES OF ADMINISTRATOR MODE
  1. Standish Sites handles billing, payments, and payment reminders to customers. Customers can be in any country, paying with their local bank card.
  2. Payment processing fees for customer payments are paid by Standish Sites.
  3. Standish Sites provides a customized support ticket (paid design work) system that documents each step in the support process.
  4. In Administrator mode, customers have access to the Standish Sites control panel, where they add or modify pages themselves.
DISADVANTAGES OF ADMINISTRATOR MODE
  1. When providing paid support (page design and updates), a small percentage of the cost is paid to Standish Sites. Resellers keep 100% of this income.
  2. Administrators are subject to stricter rules and controls than Resellers. (See below.)

The business relationship of Reseller and Administrator modes is defined on the contracts page.
